SUMMER EVENTS FOR 2024

Area 10 Leadership Academy (LA)

9-15 June, 2024

Location: Riverside Military Academy / Gainesville, Georgia

Description: five select cadets participate in a challenging 7-day camp filled with instruction in leadership, drill, PT, and academics.  The camp is led by Naval Science Instructors, assisted by former LA graduates (aka: "cadre").  The main objective is to develop a core of young leaders who return to their respective units and implement the lessons learned to help make their individual units better.

BK NJROTC 2024 (STEM) CyberCamp (STANDARD)

8-12 July. 2024

Location: Bishop Kenny High School

Description:

The AFA CyberCamp program is designed to excite students new to cybersecurity about STEM(Science-Technology-Engineering-Math) career opportunities and teach them important cyber defense skills through hands-on instruction and activities. Through the camp, students will learn how to protect their personal devices and information from outside threats, as well as how to harden entire networks running Windows 10 and Ubuntu operating systems. The AFA CyberCamp will culminate in an exciting final team competition that simulates real cybersecurity situations faced by industry professionals and mimics AFA’s CyberPatriot National Youth Cyber Defense Competition.

Two Camps: Standard AFA CyberCamp teaches beginner students the basics, while Advanced AFA CyberCamp incorporates more complex concepts geared towards students who have previously​ participated in a Standard AFA CyberCamp or participated in the CyberPatriot competition.

BK NJROTC Marksmanship Camp

18-20 July, 2024

Location: Bishop Kenny High School

Description: 3-day marksmanship training event to include classroom and live-fire training led by Civilian Marksmanship Program (CMP)-certified instructors, and upperclassmen.  Other Area 10 units will send cadets as well.

Cost: $90.00

BK NJROTC Basic Leadership Training (BLT)

22-24 July, 2024

Location: Bishop Kenny High School

Description: 3-day event of fun, games and learning led by Cadet Staff, Training Officers, and upperclassmen. The main objective is for the new Naval Science 1 (NS1) cadets to meet other members of the unit, as well as spend time learning the basics of NJROTC, such as: Chain of Command, Orders to the Sentry, drill, PT, flag detail, etc. NS1 cadets will have the opportunity to promote to Seaman Apprentice during BLT!

Area 10 Basic Leadership Training (BLT) Camp

Location: Camp Blanding 

Camp Blanding Joint Training Center, 5629 FL-16 W, Starke, FL 32091

Description: Ridgeview High School and Cairo High School host the Area 10 Basic Leadership Training (BLT) Course at Camp Blanding from Tuesday to Saturday, 22-29 July, 2024.  Training and activities will include Naval Science Studies, Drill, Uniform Prep and Inspection, the Leadership Reaction Course, an Obstacle Course, a Marksmanship Familiarization Fire, Canoeing, a tour of the Camp Blanding Museum, and Orienteering.  The staff consists of Naval Science Instructors, volunteers and a cadre of senior NJROTC Cadets who will lead, conduct training, and mentor participants.

Cost is $180.00.

BK NJROTC Training Officer (TO) Indoctrination

5-9 August, 2024

Location: Bishop Kenny High School

Description: Rising-Junior Training Officers will undergo several days of training in preparation to assume their duties as Freshman class TOs.

Cost: No Cost.
